LCBO: "The vineyards from which this wine is sourced are situated in Dragasani and are said to have been in use since the days of the Roman Empire. Tamaioasa Romaneasca is a Romanian synonym for Muscat Blanc à Petits Grains - the oldest and noblest variety of Muscat. It is famed for its concentrated grape flavour and orange-blossom accents. The Prince Stirbey version is grown in clay-rich vineyards that impart a spicy character to the floral component."

Tamaioasa is an aromatic, terpenic grape variety reminiscent of muscat or gewürztraminer on the nose, and this example is indeed quite lovely, clean and fragrant. The palate is essentially dry on a light-medium bodied frame, with crisp acids and good length. This is well worth a look I'd say for fans of aromatic unoaked whites; try with Thai green curry or Indonesian chicken skewers with lemon grass and kefir lime leaf. Tasted October 2014.
